Tree Comes Down On House In Garnerville ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A tree landed on top of a home in Garnerville early Monday, causing minor damage to the home.  The tree hit the home at 6 Hewitt St., around 8:48 a.m. bringing down live power lines, police said. Garnerville police and fire responded to assist residents and to make sure the power lines were blocked off. No one was injured and officials cleared the scene within an hour.

Power Restored To Suffern High School ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Suffern High School lost power due to downed trees and wires, but remained open, Ramapo police said.Classes continued Monday as Orange & Rockland Utilities worked at the scene before power was restored later in the morning. School officials said all students and staff are safe, but the school’s phones are still not working. In the event of an emergency requiring parents to contact the school, they are asked to call the District’s Offices at 845-357-7783. The school's resource officer remained on site and kept in close contact with the police department.

Downed Trees, Power Lines Close Route 202 In Ramapo ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Route 202 in Ramapo near Sky Meadow Road is closed in both directions as a result of toppled trees and downed power lines on Monday morning. Police are asking drivers to avoid the area, and for residents to use caution when venturing out.  Rain began ending after the morning commute Monday. There is a chance of showers between 10 a.m. and noon and then gradual clearing through the afternoon with a high around 54 degrees. Two Hospitalized With Legionnaires’ Disease In Westchester Two nursing home residents in Westchester have been hospitalized after contracting Legionnaires’ disease. A resident at Sky View Rehabilitation & Health Care in Croton-on-Hudson, was diagnosed with pneumonia which tested positive for exposure to Legionella bacteria on Wednesday, Oct. 18, said the center's Administrator Vincent A. Driver Charged With DWI After Slamming Into Car On Route 59 ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. --  The driver of a 2012 Mustang who slammed into the rear of another vehicle Sunday morning on Route 59 in Rockland has been charged with DWI. Ramapo police responded to the crash in the early morning hours on Sunday. When officers arrived, they found the unidentified driver of the Mustang had read-ended a 2006 Chevrolet, police said. After hitting the Chevrolet, the Mustang left the roadway, struck an embankment, and rolled over, finally landing back on its wheels, police said. The driver was arrested and charged with DWI along with other vehicle and traffic laws.

Man Chokes Woman In Dispute At Nyack Hotel, Police Say ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. --  A 27-year-old man is behind bars after choking a woman at a Nyack hotel, police said. Andy Azard-Adams of Coral Spring, Fla., was arrested after Orangetown Police responded to the West Gate Hotel on Route 59 in Nyack for a possible dispute, Sgt. Kirk Vega said. When officers arrived on scene they found Azard-Adams and a woman had gotten into an argument where he choked her, causing bruising to her neck, Vega said.
