She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Spring Valley High School Evacuated Following Bomb Threat This story has been updated. ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Spring Valley High School students have returned to class following a bomb threat that was written on a classroom wall, East Ramapo School officials said. Police were called around 7:10 a.m. Friday and students were evacuated immediately from the school at 361 E. Route 59, said Spring Valley Police. The Rockland County Bomb Squad responded with bomb-sniffing dogs to scan the school for any explosives before students were allowed to return to class just before 9 a.m., said police said. Carmel Man Driving Erratically Busted For DWI, Police Say PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Carmel man was busted by Town of Kent Police for drunk driving after being stopped on Route 52. Angel Brito, 27, was arrested after he was stopped by Officer Corey Ashe around 2 a.m. Nov. 20, when he was spotted driving erratically on Route 52, said Kent Police Chief Alex DiVernieri. Brito was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 13.

Police Investigate Report Of Swastikas On Van In Spring Valley The owner of a van with dirty windows discovered two swastikas drawn into the dirt on his rear window, while in Spring Valley, according to Spring Valley police. The owner said he didn't even know the swastikas were there until pointed out on Jill Lane, said Officer Matthew Galli. The van's owner told officers he couldn't be sure if they were drawn while he was working in Spring Valley or done in Orange County where he lives, Galli said. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Spring Valley Police at 845-356-7400.

Rockland Sheriff K-9 Transferred To State Academy Following Attack The Rockland County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday that the department's Arson dog, K-9 Roscoe, would be transferred to the State Fire Academy, after killing another dog on Nov. 21. The attack and death of a 10-pound cavapoo named Ginger tragically happened when Rockland County Sheriff's Det. Town Of Poughkeepsie Police Search For Scam Suspect The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department is warning residents and shoppers along the Route 9 commercial corridor to be aware of a man who is running a parking lot scam. The incident occurred on Thursday when a shopper was approached by a large-framed black man with a shaved head and mustache who asked for help jump-starting his vehicle, said Lt. Brian Wagner. Fire In Marist College Dorm Contained A fire inside a Marist College dorm was quickly extinguished Monday by Fairview Fire District firefighters around 7:40 p.m. Once on scene, firefighters found a fire and smoke in Townhouse T, at 35 West Cedar St., Fairview Fire Chief Christopher Maeder reported. Warming Center Opens In Rockland ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- As the cold weather moved in, a total of 47 people used the new Rockland County Warming Center during its first weekend in operation, according to Rockland County Executive Ed Day.
