Beacon Man Strangles Victim, Steals Cell Phone In Domestic Dispute A Beacon man is behind bars after being charged with a host of domestic violence charges including assaulting and strangling the victim, according to the New York State Police. Daniel J. Statini, 27, was arrested Monday, Jan. 8, for a domestic dispute that took place on Jan. 3, on Glenwood Drive in Beacon, said Trooper AJ Hicks. An investigation into the event revealed that Statini stole $120, assaulted, strangled, and unlawfully imprisoned the victim at his residence, Hicks said. Back In Business: Joseph's Steakhouse To Reopen After Blaze In Hyde Park When Joseph's Steakhouse in Hyde Park burned down in March of last year, the owner Joseph Wilson said he was throwing in the towel and not reopening the restaurant. Then, over the weekend, an amazing thing happened, Wilson announced on the steakhouse's Facebook page that he did indeed intend to reopen the restaurant, and teased hopefuls, with a planning for a May to June opening. Police Locate Missing 12-Year-Old Hudson Valley Boy A Hudson Valley boy who was missing for a day has been located by police in a hospital waiting room. Jordan Acres, 12, of Kingston went missing about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday when he was last seen near the Boys & Girls Club, said Kingston Police. Police found the boy about 24 hours later at the Kingston Hospital waiting room trying to stay warm, said Det. Lt. Thierry Croizer. "He wanted to spend time with friends and then looked for a warm spot to stay," Croizer said. The boy was afraid he would get in trouble, and wasn't a runaway, police said.

Carmel Man, 22, Nabbed For Selling Illegal Prescription Drugs In Putnam A 22-year-old Carmel man was arrested in Putnam County after selling pills to an undercover deputy, according to Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. Jamie J. Mclean was arrested Thursday, Jan. 11, by a deputy with the Narcotics Enforcement Unit after he developed information that Mclean was involved in the sale of prescription drugs, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. The deputy was able to make contact with Mclean and arrange for the purchase of prescription medication (Suboxone) on several occasions, the department said. Passenger Nabbed With Heroin In Putnam Stop After Suspicious Vehicle Report A 28-year-old Putnam man was nabbed with heroin after deputies received a report of a suspicious vehicle, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. Deputies discovered Maher I. Jamal of Putnam Valley after receiving the call around 11:01 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 11, for a suspicious vehicle in the area of Bonie Wood Drive in the Town of Putnam Valley, said Capt. Lisa Ortolano. Oh, Deer! Firefighters Make Quite A Rescue On Frozen Pocantico Hills Lake It was quite the afternoon for Sleepy Hollow Fire Chief John Korzelius when he crawled out onto a lake to rescue a deer stranded on a frozen lake in Pocantico Hills. The department received the call about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday about a wobbly deer who was slipping and sliding on the ice trying to get to back to land. Sleepy Hollow firefighters, along with Pocantico Hills firefighters were able to rescue the deer by tying ropes around Korzelius, a video of the rescue shows. I-84 Fishkill Rollover Crash Causes Afternoon Delays This story has been updated. One lane of traffic was shut down on I-84 in East Fishkill due to a crash with injuries. The single-vehicle rollover crash occurred around 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the eastbound lanes, said New York State Trooper AJ Hicks. The extent or severity of injuries was not immediately known, Hicks said. Motorists were asked to avoid the area if possible due to backups from the left lane being closed.

Cashless Tolling Amnesty Program To Launch On New Tappan Zee Bridge Motorists with outstanding toll violations will have a chance to wipe the slate clean under a cashless toll amnesty program for customers using the new Tappan Zee Bridge unveiled by the Thruway Authority on Wednesday. Firefighters Rescue Dog From Icy Waters Near Nyack Beach Piermont firefighter Danny Goswick was at work when the fire department received a call to rescue a dog in the icy water on the Hudson River near Nyack Beach. As the department's head scuba instructor, Goswick has rescued a lot of people and animals from the waters, so he suited up and headed to the site Tuesday afternoon. Pearl River Family Devastated By Fire Still Searching For Missing Dog Members of a Pearl River family who lost their home to a fire last week are asking for help in finding their dog Barrett who disappeared during the devastating blaze. The family is asking for help putting up posters or for residents to just keep an eye out for him.
