Shirley Couple Used Counterfeit Bills To Steal Boat Engines, Southampton Police Say Two Long Island residents were arrested for allegedly using counterfeit bills to purchase two boat engine motors. On Saturday, June 8, the Southampton Town Police Department arrested Jan-Carel A. Van-Heyningen, 24, and Claudia V. Route 172 Reopens Following Single-Vehicle Rollover Crash This story has been updated. A busy Bedford roadway has reopened following a single-vehicle crash that injured a 17-year-old girl. The crash took place around 8:20 a.m., Monday, June 10, on route 172, (South Bedford Road) lost control of her vehicle and hit a guardrail and rolled over, said Bedford Police Lt. Andrew Bellantone. The girl was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Westchester Medical Center, with unknown injuries, he said. "She was alert and talking when we reached her," he said." Area Man ID'd As Motorcyclist Killed In Route 17 Crash A 35-year-old area man has been identified as the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash on Sunday, June 9. Anthony D. Santiago of Garnerville was killed around 4:05 p.m., on Route 17 in Orange County, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel. The crash took place when Santiago lost control near Exit 127 in Chester and struck the northern guardrail, Nevel said. 22-Year-Old Pedestrian Hit By Jeep On Veterans Memorial Highway A 22-year-old pedestrian was injured after being hit by a vehicle on Veterans Memorial Highway in Bohemia.  Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating the crash that seriously injured the unidentified man around 11:40 a.m., Friday, June 7. According to detectives, a 2016 Jeep was traveling east on Veterans Memorial Highway near Kenwood Drive when the vehicle struck the pedestrian.  The victim transported to Southside Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Second Arrest Made In MS-13 Murder Of Teen In Massapequa Preserve A second alleged MS-13 gang member has been arrested in connection with the murder of a Uniondale teen in the Massapequa Preserve in 2016. Raul Ponce, 19, of  Hempstead, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the machete killing of Bryan Steven Cho Lemus, 18, and in the killing of Julio Cesar Gonzales-Espantzay, 19, of Valley Stream, said the Nassau County Police.
