Video: Shark Caught Off Long Island Sound A man out for a little nighttime fishing on the Long Island Sound hooked a brown shark instead. Fisherman John Skinner, of Greenport, was fishing Saturday, Aug. 24, in Southold for bluefish when he hooked a large brown shark up against some rocks. A YouTube video shows the shark and the entire 20 minute battle with the fish. Because the brown shark is prohibited in New York, he immediately released it.  There have been a number of shark sightings in the area over the summer, including in Penniman Creek in Quogue, in Jamesport, and on Tobay Beach.  Skinner said on the video…

Area Home Built In 1795 Heavily Damaged By Fire A LaGrange home built in 1795 received heavy damage following a fire on the second floor and the left side of the home, the LaGrange Fire Department said.
