She spent 17 years at Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida as a general assignment reporter, crime reporter, entertainment reporter and restaurant critic. She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. She attended Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne, Florida.

Video: Shark Caught Off Long Island Sound A man out for a little nighttime fishing on the Long Island Sound hooked a brown shark instead. Fisherman John Skinner, of Greenport, was fishing Saturday, Aug. 24, in Southold for bluefish when he hooked a large brown shark up against some rocks. A YouTube video shows the shark and the entire 20 minute battle with the fish. Because the brown shark is prohibited in New York, he immediately released it. There have been a number of shark sightings in the area over the summer, including in Penniman Creek in Quogue, in Jamesport, and on Tobay Beach. Skinner said on the video…

Area Home Built In 1795 Heavily Damaged By Fire A LaGrange home built in 1795 received heavy damage following a fire on the second floor and the left side of the home, the LaGrange Fire Department said. The fire started around 10:40 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 15 Skidmore Road, said LaGrange Fire Chief Barry Ward. Arriving units found heavy fire on the second floor of the left side of the home, he added. Firefighters were able to make a quick attack and had extinguished the flames within an hour or so and cleared the scene by 1 p.m., he said. Area Man Convicted Of Attempted Rape In Case Connected With Sting Of Online Predators A 35-year-old man has been convicted by a jury of attempted rape in a case connected with a sting operation of online predators. Travis Sammeth of Newburgh was convicted Thursday, Aug. 22, by an Ulster County jury, said the Ulster County District Attorney's Office. His conviction stems from an incident on Sept. 8, 2018, when Sammeth made contact with an undercover police officer through an online website, the DA's Office said. Musician Performing In Norwalk Dies On Stage An area musician and lifelong Norwalker Timothy Paul Currie died suddenly while on stage performing with his band on the Norwalk Green on Saturday, Aug. 24. Currie, 66, was well known for playing drums with the Tim Currie Motown Band and Tim Currie’s Tumblin’ Dice Band, which is a 60’s tribute band.
