Body Found In Bridgeport Harbor ID'd As Man Wanted For Attempted Murder
A man found floating in Bridgeport Harbor has been identified as a person wanted for the alleged attempted murder of his girlfriend.
The body of Universal Yancey was discovered around 11:47 a.m., Monday, Sept. 30, in the area of 1 Atlantic St., said Rowena White, spokesperson for the Bridgeport Police Department.
Police had asked the public last week to be on the lookout for Yancey following the attempted stabbing of his girlfriend on Thursday, Sept. 26, on Fairfield Avenue, White said.

Duo Charged In Assault At Area Residence
Two men are facing assault charges after allegedly attacking two others outside of a Milford home.
Joshua Nelson, 28, of Stratford, and William Stephenson, 28, of Milford, were arrested following the alleged attack around 3 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 29, at a home on Fresh Meadow Lane, said the Milford Police.
According to police, Nelson and Stephenson went to the home and assaulted the two other men with their fists.
Both were charged with assault and breach of peace and released on a promise to appear ticket.
The men are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
Popular Area Bagel Shop Suddenly Closes
Oh no, a favorite bagel shop has closed its door in the area.
Beacon Bagel, a friendly spot for bagels and coffee, was supposed to be closed for a few days in early September.
But then, as loyal customers kept returning for a bagel fix, the owners did not.
A quick Google search lists the shop located on Main Street as permanently closed.

Stamford Attorney Arrested For Alleged Witness Tampering, Bribery, State Police Say
A Stamford attorney was arrested by Connecticut State Police on charges of witness tampering and bribery of a witness.
Darnell Crosland, 50, of Stamford, was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 1, on a warrant as a result of an investigation in conjunction with the State Prosecution Bureau of the Office of the Chief State's Attorney, the state police said.
According to state police, Crosland was charged with bribery of a witness, tampering with a witness and conspiracy to commit witness tampering. All charges are felonies that could bring up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine on each count.

Man To Spend Two Decades In Prison For Attempted Rape Of Prostitute In Area
An area man was sentenced to a total of 18 to 22 years in prison for the attempted rape of a prostitute.
Orange County resident Lionel Williams, 44, of Port Jervis, on Monday, Sept. 30, after a jury found him guilty of attempted rape and two counts of tampering with evidence in connection with the Sept. 17, 2018, attack, said Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler.

Nearly 300 Abused By 71 Priests Since 1953, Bridgeport Diocese Says
Following an exhaustive year-long investigation, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport presented the results which reveal church officials covered up sex abuse among leaders and clergy of the diocese.
The report, released Tuesday, Oct. 1, during a press conference, found repeated instances of sexual abuse, and that since 1953, nearly 300 individuals were abused by 71 priests.
The report goes on to say that the abuse was known about as early as 1953. In all, 281 people, nearly all minors, were abused in the church's 66-year history that the report was able to document.
