A 43-year-old nurse and mother of two young children died from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
A Rockland County resident and a nurse manager at Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital, Kelly Mazzarella, died on Friday, May 8, from complications from COVID-19.
Mazzarella, of Pearl River, leaves behind her husband Ronnie Mazzarella, and the two daughters, Hailey and Kristina, according to a GoFundMe page.
The fund was organized by a close friend, Nicole Maursky, in an effort to help the family cover funeral and medical expenses, as well as money for living expenses.

40-Year-Old Man Inside Car Killed After Shots Fired Through Windshield, Police Say
A 76-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing another man while he was sitting in a vehicle.
The incident took place in the town of Cochecton around 1:05 a.m., Sunday, May 10, when the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at 449 Skipperene Road.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found Anthony Bertolini, 40, shot dead seated in a vehicle in the driveway of the home, said Sullivan County Undersheriff Eric Chaboty.

Woman Found Dead On Road In Northern Westchester
Police are asking the public for help in the investigation of the death of a woman whose body was found on a busy road in the area last month.
The woman was discovered in Northern Westchester on Wednesday, April 29, on Route 202 (Crompond Road), near the Bear Mountain parking area, in Cortlandt, said New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks.
Identified as Barbara E. Berkowitz, 71, of Brooklyn, investigators have been unable to find any family members or establish a link to the area, Hicks said.

Duo Burglarize Restaurant, Attempt To Break Into Liquor Store In Rockland, Police Say
Two men were nabbed for allegedly burglarizing a Chinese restaurant and attempting to break into a liquor store.
The incident took place in Rockland County and 5 a.m., Monday, May 11, when Ramapo Police responded to a report of a commercial burglary alarm, said the Ramapo Police.
When officers arrived on the scene of the alarm at a liquor store located in the village of Pomona, they did not find any suspect, but while canvassing the area discovered a nearby Chinese restaurant had been burglarized, police said.
