Teen Duo Robs Long Island Auto Body Shop Owner After Argument, Police Say Two teens were arrested for allegedly robbing a Long Island auto body owner after a fight over the cost of the repairs. Nassau County Police said the incident took place on Wednesday, May 20, in Valley Stream at ARC Special Automotive at 850 North Corona Ave. According to detectives, the two juveniles, ages 16 and 17, were at the shop retrieving a vehicle that had been repaired and a verbal dispute ensued regarding the defendant’s inability to pay the amount owed. Memorial Day Weekend DWI Crackdown Being Conducted By Both State, Local Police As the Memorial Day holiday approaches, New York State Police announce they will increase patrol to combat drunk and impaired driving. The STOP-DWI enforcement effort will take place statewide beginning on Friday, May 22, and runs through Tuesday, May 26, the department said. Two Horses Stuck In Ravine Rescued On Long Island Two horses who fell down a ravine were rescued after an hour of work by emergency services officers. The incident took place in Suffolk County around 11:12 a.m., Thursday, May 21, when the horses fell into the ravine on Landing Meadow Road in Smithtown, Suffolk County Police said. The department's Emergency Service Section officers were able to free them approximately an hour later. Officials said the horses are expected to be OK.

Man Airlifted Following Crash With Driver Speeding, Passing Cars, Police Say A man was airlifted to the hospital after another vehicle illegally passed his car causing a rollover crash and then fled. Firefighters Rescue Three From Fourth-Floor Housing Complex Fire Firefighters rescued three people from the top floor of a senior housing apartment complex during a fire.
