Religious Artifacts Saved During Fire At Church In Bridgeport
Firefighters were able to save religious artifacts for parishioners during a fire at a Fairfield County church.
The fire, at the Greater St. John Fire-Baptized Holiness Church, at 804 Fairfield Ave., in Bridgeport, was reported around 11:20 p.m., Thursday, said Scott Appleby, director of the city's Office of Emergency Management.
Arriving firefighters found a working fire, but were able to extinguish without any injuries, Appleby said.
During the fire, Appleby said firefighters were able to save religious artifacts found on the first floor.

New Bridgeport Shooting Leaves One Dead, Three Wounded in 'Targeted' Attack
Three people have been shot and killed, and numerous others wounded in Bridgeport in less than a week as rival "groups" target each other, according to authorities.
The latest homicide took place around 7:55 p.m., Thursday, June 25, in front of 527 Huntington Road, said Scott Appleby, director of emergency communications and emergency management.
During the drive-by shooting, four people were struck by gunfire, resulting in the death of 21-year-old Tyler Ballew, of Bridgeport, who was struck in the head and collapsed at the scene, said Bridgeport Police Capt. Brain Fitzgerald.

ID Released For Bicyclist Struck, Killed By SUV In Area
A bicyclist killed after being struck by an SUV in the area has been identified by police.
Orange County resident Peter Cotsis, 62, of Chester, died around 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, in the town of Goshen after being struck by a 2018 Nissan SUV, said Sgt. Allen Faust of the Goshen Police.
Faust said the crash took place at the intersection of Craigville Road and Johnson Road when Cotsis was struck by the vehicle, driven by Baruck Murit, 38, of Brooklyn.
Good Samaritans and Murit performed CPR on Cotsis and attempted to offer him aid, but he died at the scene, Faust said.
