Long Island Man Sentenced For Murdering Girlfriend’s Mother
A 30-year-old Long Island man who pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend's mother after hitting her in the head with a barbell has been sentenced to 22 years to life in prison.
Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas announced Tuesday, June 30, that Ralph Keppler, of Lynbrook, was sentenced for the 2016 crime that led to the woman's death in 2018.
Keppler pleaded guilty in Dec. 2019 to the charges of murder, conspiracy, and criminal possession of a weapon, Singas said.

Wilton Woman Accused Of Swimming Naked Accompanied By Stamford Man In Stranger's Pool
An area man and a naked woman were arrested after they were found allegedly swimming in the pool of a home that didn't belong to them.
The incident took place around 4:35 p.m., on Tuesday, June 23, when Wilton Police officers in Fairfield County received a 911 call from a residence on Wilridge Road, said Lt. Robert Kluk.
The resident told officers that two adults were swimming in his pool and added that the woman was naked, Kluk said.
Officers arrived on scene and located Jennifer Louney, 53, of Wilton, and Michael Silvester, 51, of Stamford, swimming in the pool, Kluk said.

The identity of a man who drowned in a Hudson Valley lake while out boating with friends has been released by police.
Brooklyn resident Sydney Joseph, 46, was recovered on Monday, June 29, in Oscawana Lake, located in the town of Putnam Valley, said Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr.

Skydiver Found Dead In Parking Lot Without Parachute, State Police Say
State Police are investigating a fatal skydiving accident in which the victim was found without a parachute.
The incident took place in Ulster County on Sunday, June 28, when the body of a man was found in front of the Gardiner Fire Station in Gardiner, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel.
