A late-night breakdown turned deadly for a Maryland woman and her dog when they tried crossing an interstate together after her vehicle ran out of gas.
Madison Cecille Davis, 31, of Westminster, was killed shortly after 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, after stopping on the left shoulder of southbound I-795 near Mt. Wilson Lane in Baltimore County, according to Maryland State Police.
Investigators say Davis' vehicle had run out of gas, prompting her to pull onto the shoulder and get out with her dog.

A school-issued payment card allegedly became a personal expense account for a Virginia principal.
Darin Thompson, 51, of Lorton, the former principal of Hayfield Secondary School, was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 30, after investigators say he used nearly $8,000 in school funds on unauthorized personal expenses.
The spending included personal travel and trips to events that had nothing to do with Thompson's official duties, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Oscar Evaristo Nunez was back in custody, but not on the charges that first landed him behind bars.
More than a year after his arrest on allegations involving the sexual assault and secret filming of children in Virginia, Nunez was arrested by ICE agents on Tuesday, Sept. 15, during a targeted enforcement operation, the Department of Homeland Security announced on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
Nunez, a Honduran national, had initially been arrested in Fairfax County on Aug. 27, 2025, on five charges involving minors, according to DHS.

Marvin Grant, 37, of Charlotte, NC, shot three of his coworkers at United Rentals on Wellington Road in Manassas shortly after 7 a.m. on Sept. 30, killing two before fleeing south and ultimately taking his own life along I-81, according to Manassas City and Virginia State Police.
