Shots Fired In Leesburg Parking Lot Over Holiday Weekend: Police No injuries were reported when two men got into a gunfight in a Leesburg parking lot July Fourth, authorities said. Leesburg officers responded to reports of shots fired in a lot on the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Road NE at 11:30 p.m., Officer Michael Drogin said. Springfield Motorcyclist Killed In Burke Crash: Police A Springfield man was killed in a crash on the Burke Center Parkway over the holiday weekend, authorities said. Nema Mirsaeedi, 31, was riding westbound on his 2020 Honda motorcycle when he turned and collided with the front passenger side of a Mercedes going the other direction, Fairfax County Police said. Mirsaeedi was thrown from his motorcycle in the course of the incident and was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, police said. Arrest Made In Leesburg Hotel Heist Police identified and arrested a man in the armed robbery of a Leesburg hotel. Eugene Mitchell, Jr., 57, rushed into the the Best Western Leesburg Hotel at around 1 a.m. June 22, wearing a mask, waving a handgun, and demanded cash from the register, Leesburg Police Officer Michael Drogin said. Both Zamari Wilson, 12, and Ryan Neal, 44, drowned within hours of each other July Fourth weekend on Virginia Beach. Amended Virginia Law Takes Cocktail Delivery Seriously The Virginia government is updating and extending a pandemic-born law allowing the delivery of to-go cocktails — this time with an emphasis on public safety. Bill HB 426 took effect July 1, and maintains that delivery companies such as Uber Eats and DoorDash are required to get a specific license and follow a strict set of rules if they want to offer the new boozy option. Herndon Police Involved Shooting: What We Know A suspect was shot by police after a stop of a stolen car in Fairfax County on Tuesday, July 5, authorities said. At least three individuals were in the stolen car when authorities tried to pull them over on the 600 block of Dulles Park Court sometime before 2 p.m., Herndon police said.
