Two men from New York City were arrested as they retrieved $42,800 in payments sent by victims of a telephone scam to vacant homes for sale in Fairfield County, police say. Police received a complaint on Tuesday, Nov. 19, of suspicious activity concerning the delivery of packages to vacant homes for sale. A 34-year-old woman has been seriously injured after police say she was hit by a UPS truck while crossing a busy intersection on Long Island. Detectives with the Nassau County Police Department say the woman was walking at the intersection of Langdon Street and Doris Avenue in Franklin Square on Monday, Nov. 18 around 5 p.m. Police say the victim was struck by a UPS truck traveling northbound on Doris Avenue that subsequently left the scene. UPS To Bring 150-Plus Jobs To New Westchester Facility
More than 150 seasonal jobs are coming to Westchester, courtesy of UPS. UPS announced that it is opening a new facility in Yonkers that will bring dozens of jobs to the area as the holiday season rolls around. The package operation is expected to open up on Tuckahoe Road in the next two or three weeks, the company said, creating full and part-time positions in the area for local residents. Man Claiming To Be From UPS Swipes Fraudulent Purchase From Long Hill Porch, PD Says
A man claiming to be from UPS showed up to a Morris County home to swipe a package that had been delivered under the homeowners' names without their knowing, police said. The unknown man showed up around 10 a.m. Friday to the Bungalow Terrace home in Millington moments after they had been delivered, Long Hill police said.
