Explosion At Route 17 Construction Sites Injures Workers Two employees received facial injuries following an explosion at a sewer construction site in Rockland County.  The incident took place around 2:34 p.m. Monday on Route 17 in Sloatsburg at the "Metra Construction" site, said the Ramapo Police Department. According to police, the workers were clearing material from an earlier blasting, when a piece of explosive which had failed to detonate earlier, suddenly exploded sending dirt and debris in the air, police said. The crash took place around 9 a.m., Monday, in the area of 668 Union Valley Road, according to Mahopac EMS. Child Porn Found On Homeowner's Computer, Milford Police Say A 59-year-old area man was nabbed for distributing child pornography following a three-month investigation. The pornography was uncovered on June 19, when the Milford Police Department Computer Crimes Unit located an IP address in Milford that was downloading and distributing child pornography, the Police Department said.  An investigation revealed the source IP address originated from the home of Dean Barber of Milford, police said. Nanuet Woman Charged With Shoplifting From ShopRite In Pearl River An area woman was arrested for shoplifting after a loss prevention officer allegedly saw her put items in a bag and attempt to leave the store. Kimberly C. Miller, 54, of Nanuet, was arrested on Friday, Sept. 14, around 7:20 p.m., at the ShopRite in Pearl River, said Orangetown Police. Miller is accused of putting $77 worth of grocery items in a bag and attempt to leave the store without paying, police said. She was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property and released. Miller is due to appear in court on Oct. 15.

Devon A.
