Failed Extension Cord Cause Of Apartment Fire That Injures Resident A third-floor apartment unit was heavily damaged and the resident injured during a fire in Stratford started by a failed extension cord powering an air conditioner.  The fire took place around 10:25 a.m., Monday, Sept. 9, at 450 Ferry Blvd., in Stratford, said Deputy Chief and Fire Marshal Brian Lampart. When firefighters arrived on the scene they found residents were self-evacuating from the 25-unit building, Lampart said. The crash took place around 2:05 a.m., Monday, Sept. 9, when one of the vehicles was allegedly cut-off by a Kia on the highway in Greenburgh, causing the vehicle to brake sharply and was then rear-ended, said Trooper AJ Hicks.
