Former Employee Charged With Stealing iPhones From Verizon Wireless Store In Fairfield County A Fairfield County man was arrested for allegedly stealing several iPhones from his former employee just hours after he fired. Miguel J. Portela, 40, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Thursday, March 12, after committing the crimes in Fairfield, said Fairfield Chief of police Christopher Lyddy. Man Shot During Standoff With Police On Long Island A Long Island man was shot by police after allegedly threatening officers with a rifle and barricading himself inside his home. Christopher Malerba, 49, of Middle Island, was shot and injured by Suffolk County Police on Wednesday, March 25, following a stand-off at his home, Suffolk County Police said. Man Arrested For Sexually Abusing Woman, State Police Say A 31-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged sexual abuse of a woman and burglary. Sullivan County resident Cody Yaun, 31, of Liberty, was arrested on Wednesday, March 25, by New York State Police after the woman was able to escape and report the attack to police, said Trooper Steven Nevel. State police said an investigation revealed that Yaun allegedly broke into the apartment of a woman and attempted to strangle and sexually assault her. Woman Found Stabbed Outside Building Where Fire Broke Out In Area An Orange County woman was found stabbed outside a building that was on fire. The woman was found around 12:30 a.m., Thursday, March 26, when City of Newburgh police responded to 24 Dubois St., for a report of a fire inside a building where a person had been stabbed, said Det. Man Arrested For Raping 77-Year-Old Long Island Woman Multiple Times, Police Say A 33-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 77-year-old woman multiple times after breaking into her Long Island home.
