Starving Dog Rescued From Shocking Conditions In New York Basement: Officials
A young Long Island man left a starving dog locked in a basement with little to eat, authorities said Wednesday, Sept. 16.
Isaiah Thomas, 20, of Wheatley Heights, was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 15 on two animal cruelty charges, the Suffolk County SPCA said.
Thomas owned a 4-year-old Cane Corso named Apollo, then confined the dog to a basement secured by a metal door that was held closed by three vehicle tires, investigators said.

A high school senior was days away from starting his final year when he was shot and killed after crashing his vehicle in Pennsylvania, police said.
The victim has been identified as Richard Nelson DeShield, 18, of Lansdowne.
DeShield, 18, was sitting inside his vehicle near North Wycombe and Blackburn avenues in Lansdowne, around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, when a Lansdowne police officer saw two males standing nearby, Lansdowne Chief of Police Ken Rutherford said.
