She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Thieves 'Fishing' From Stamford Mail Collection Boxes, Police Say Stamford residents are being warned to think twice before putting utility or other checks in large U.S. post boxes due to a recent rise in thefts. So far, more than $3,000 in dozens of checks have been stolen or "fished" out of the large boxes, said Stamford Police Sgt. Steve Perrotta. "I suggest if residents are mailing important payments or sensitive mail to walk inside the Post Office and hand the items to a clerk," Perrotta said. Bridgeport Man, 22, Repeatedly Stabbed Ex-Girlfriend, Stratford PD Says Stratford police nabbed a Bridgeport man for attempted murder after he repeatedly stabbed his girlfriend, according to the Stratford Police. Mark Febres, 22, was charged Thursday, Feb. 15, with criminal attempt at murder, assault, three counts of risk of injury to a minor, home invasion and violation of a protective order, after breaking into his girlfriend's West Board Street home, police said. Bus Driver Charged With Making Terroristic Threat In Hudson Valley A school bus driver with the Minisink Valley School District has been arrested for making threats of violence against other employees at the district's bus garage, according to the New York State Police. Albert DiPaola, 71, of the Town of Greenville, was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count of making a terroristic threat, said Trooper Steven Nevel. Stamford Teen Who Crashed Stolen Car Into Cruiser Charged As Adult A Stamford 16-year-old was extradited from New York and charged as an adult after stealing a vehicle and taking police on a chase that ended in Northern Westchester in October 2017, ramming three police vehicles, according to the Stamford Advocate. Former Firefighter In Fairfield County Sentenced For Dealing Cocaine A former Norwalk firefighter who pleaded guilty in December to selling crack cocaine out of the central firehouse was sentenced Thursday to three years in jail. Mark Monroe, 46, who was sentenced at the Stamford courthouse, was also sentenced to 10 years of special patrol after he has served the three years. Monroe was arrested in Norwalk in February 2017, after police said he sold an undercover officer three packages of cocaine weighing about 3.8 grams each. Woman Busted For Felony Drunk Driving Following Dutchess Crash A 43-year-old woman was arrested for felony DWI following a single-vehicle traffic crash on Route 22, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office. Megan L. Poirot, of Rensselaer, was charged following the crash which occurred around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday on Route 22 in the Town of North East, said Capt. John Watterson. Woman Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Worker In Her Stamford Home A Stamford woman was arrested for sexually assaulting a woman who worked at her home doing housekeeping and childcare, said Stamford Police. Delvany Marques-Dos Santos, 48, turned herself into police Thursday following an investigation by the police department, said Sgt. Chris DiCarlo. Truck Stolen In Rockland Found 200 Miles Away A truck stolen from Rockland County was found more than 200 miles away when New York State Police responded to the Warners Service Area in the upstate town of Van Buren on I-90 near Syracuse for a report of a stolen vehicle. Phyllis DeWitt Of Putnam Sheriff's Department Calls It A Career Phyllis DeWitt, a longtime employee of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office called it a career on Friday. DeWitt, who started working for the county in 1985 with the Probation Department where she worked until 2001 when she moved to the Sheriff’s Office's Civil Division.
